About the Artist
Picture
Yvonne Rojas-Cowan a self-taught artist, creates digital painting which she then translates into contemporary fine art. With brush strokes on canvas, Yvonne creates intense personal moments reflective of life. Her paintings are based on personal associations which relate to significant experiences from her life. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned. By letting her spirt guide which direction a work will go, she aims to develop forms that are based on deeply vulnerable topics which incite the viewer to make new personal associations. Having had a successful corporate career in finance, Rojas-Cowan walked away from it all a few years after the financial crisis in pursuit of a balanced lifestyle. This provided free time which gave her the freedom to embrace her passion of art. Yvonne currently lives and works in the Hudson Valley in the town of Saugerties, NY along with her husband and two Cavalier King Charles pups.
