Ghost Gardens

Photography by Laura Jayne

Snake’s head fritillary
In these works, Laura uses camera-less photography methods to capture the transient beauty in our natural environment. Plants are pressed against an activated surface and exposed to natural light, the resulting image revealing a unique impression of the plant’s form that looms ghost-like from the dark page. These images are a night-time herbarium - an exploration of the beauty of plants beyond the last grasp of sunlight.
