Athenaeum

Poetry by Kathryn Sadakierski

Books, lined on shelves
Like pastries in a bakery case,
Baubles in a treasure chest.

They smell not of dust,
But brightly, of hope,
The clean scent of the wind
Embarking on an adventure
Perusing the aisles,
Tomes of every color, shape, and size,
My friends.

Enveloped in a plush armchair,
And in a riveting read,
I am in my library
Sanctuary.
