Bank Holiday Blues

poem by John Wineyard
Warm weather in little Britain,
Too much corn flour in the gravy.
Dogs gnaw their paws,
As La Canicule strikes.

Dog days in little Britain,
Lethargy howls its lazy song.
The asylum has opened its doors,
To the madness that is the last Monday in May.
