It's interesting how something as natural as writing (to some) can be so difficult to do at times.
I suppose the whole irony of it is that the words are there, without being there at all. The words exist, and the words are somewhere, just not where they need to be – they are not where you need them to be. You find yourself incessantly tapping your pen, chewing on the plastic cap, or staring at the blinking cursor that is just staring at you back with its rhythmic blinking, as if it were saying ready when you are! There's no average wait time for inspiration to strike, no scheduled arrival, and most certainly no warnings of when it will come. So as a writer, this affliction of sorts is particularly cruel, especially when the world around you exists on deadlines and cutoffs. For me in particular, there are no fool-proof remedies. But falling upon a relevant quote made me think that maybe not all hope is lost for my elongated case of the writer's blues: "Writing about a writer’s block is better than not writing at all." - Charles Bukowski Laura
